01 —Who builds it Jonathan Evans and Randy Moore, co-owners
Jonathan Evans grew up in the swimming pool industry and began designing custom pools at sixteen, under his family's guidance. He later took architecture classes at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville: spatial planning, structural engineering, site integration, landscape harmony. Then he brought that training back to the family firm.
It shows in the work he takes on. Complex topography. Shotcrete and gunite execution. Custom water features, advanced filtration, custom coping and tile, and the seamless indoor‑to‑outdoor transitions most builders will not attempt. His own crews call it everything pools — there is no part of the job he sends out.
He is an outdoorsman when he is not on a site, and it shows in the water: the lakes and rivers of East Tennessee are where the rock features and the natural edges come from.
The firm has been in the same family, in the same city, since 1977. It has never changed hands.
02 —What we build Four ways to build
Gunite is sand, cement and water sprayed at high velocity over a dense grid of steel rebar. It sets as one monolithic shell rather than a panel or a liner, it flexes with East Tennessee's freeze cycles and shifting ground without losing strength, and it will take virtually any shape you can draw. A fibreglass or vinyl pool is chosen from a catalogue of moulds; this one is drawn for your ground.
We also build and renovate commercial pools, and we run a fully stocked store for chemicals, replacement parts and maintenance supplies — for the people who would rather look after their own water.

A single‑speed pump runs flat out whenever it runs at all. Change it, swap a gas heater for a heat pump and the bulbs for LED, and the bill moves before anything else on the pool has been touched.

Plaster, or an aggregate finish blended with quartz or river pebble that resists staining and lasts longer. And because the shell is concrete, a sun shelf, a bench or a swim‑up bar can be cut into a pool built decades ago: new steel tied into the original cage, poured, and finished over seamlessly.

Fine web‑like crazing in the plaster is age, not failure. A deep, single, widening crack is structural, and it gets staples. Waterline tile rarely needs the pool drained — the level drops just below the work and no further.

Municipal building codes, zoning law, HOA guidelines, setback rules, utility easements. We prepare, submit and track every document before ground is broken, so compliance is our problem rather than yours. And when it matters, our team speaks both English and Spanish.

06 —The questions Answered before you call
Short answers, and none of them "it depends" without saying what it depends on.
We do, all of them. Municipal building codes, zoning, HOA guidelines, setback rules and utility easements — prepared, submitted and tracked before ground is broken, along with the site inspections and the engineering compliance. It is the part of the job that delays projects, and it is not your problem.
One cracked tile or a small localised leak is a repair. Widespread plaster peeling, structural cracks or chronic plumbing leaks mean the shell needs the full job. If you are not sure whether you are losing water or just losing it to a hot week, float a bucket of water on a step, match the levels inside and out, mark both, and look again in twenty‑four hours. If the pool has dropped further than the bucket, call us.
A fibreglass shell is a mould and a vinyl pool is a liner over a frame, so both come in the shapes somebody else has already made, often leaning on an existing deck or retaining wall. Gunite is sprayed over steel on your ground, in whatever shape it is drawn in, and it takes custom steps, beach entries, tanning ledges and an integrated spa without any of them being an add‑on. A liner is replaced; a shell is not.
Yes. The edge is traditionally built into a slope because a slope hands you the view, but it does not need one: on a flat lot the pool is raised, or the ground behind it is built up, and the water spills into a catch basin either way. What decides it is the soil and the elevations, which is what the site visit is for.
It depends on size, on how complicated the shape is, on the equipment, and on what the site itself demands — access, grade and drainage change the number before a single feature is chosen. Waterfalls, spas, lighting, decking and automation move it again. We will not quote a figure before we have stood on the ground; we will give you a detailed one after.
